Westchester County Information

Westchester is the place to be if you like museums and outdoor festivals. The county is host to one of the top five outdoor festivals in the country, with two outdoor theaters and an indoor Music Room, the Rosen House. Rosen House is also home to a magnificent collection of fine and decorative art from the Renaissance period and the East. Several gardens are there to be enjoyed as well. Tours of Kykuit, home to four generations of the legendary Rockefeller family, are not to be missed. The former home of Washington Irving can be toured also, as well as Van Cortlandt Manor, Philipsburg Manor, and the Union Church of Pocantico Hills. Another gem garnered by Westchester County is the 1883 Lighthouse at Sleepy Hollow. It is located on the Hudson River and has experienced a near-perfect record of performance for 78 years.

If you are a castle aficionado, read on. The splendid Castle on the Hudson is yours for the viewing in Westchester County. Construction on this beauty began in 1897 and was completed in 1910. It is currently an upscale hotel - imagine staying there! You will also find the Glenview Mansion at the Hudson River Museum, Leland Castle at Leland College, the Reid Castle at Manhattanville College, the Whitby Castle, and Wainwright House.

The choices for dining are exceptional in Westchester County as every taste and every budget are accommodated. Nightlife includes the availability of several pubs, clubs, and dancing venues.
