Wayne County Information

Home of the automobile and of Motown, Wayne County in the southeastern corner of Michigan has a rich and eventful history. With Detroit as its county seat and major city, the area is also known as one of the United States' largest urban areas, with approximately two million people calling it home. As such, one can only imagine all that the county has to offer in the way of shops, restaurants, entertainment, history, and more.

Wayne County is unique in that it shares a border with Canada. In fact, one simply has to traverse the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, which is partially submerged in the Detroit River, to be in a foreign land. On American soil, however, there is much to see and do in Wayne County. Of course, the busiest part of the area is in the City of Detroit, which is home to several notable locations. Perhaps the most famous of these is the Henry Ford, also dubbed "America's Greatest History Attraction." Here, visitors can get a glimpse into the life and work of automaker Henry Ford and other exhibits centered around the Industrial Revolution.

Greektown is another popular destination in Detroit for locals and tourists alike, with its authentic Greek cafes and shops. Sports are big here as well, with professional teams such as the Pistons (NBA), the Lions (NFL), the Tigers (MLB), and the Red Wings (NHL). Detroit is also home to the Arab American National Museum, which is the first of its kind. Indeed, Detroit (and Wayne County) is a diverse area that continues to thrive, grow, and attract more people every day.
