Bergen County Information

Bergen County, which is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area, is the most populous county in the state of New Jersey. As of last year's census, the county's population was listed at 905,116 and it is the 16th highest income county per capita in the United States. Bergen County is also a very diverse county with the highest per capita Korean population in the United States. Palisades Park and the neighboring Fort Lee have the highest totals of Korean ancestry in any municipality in the U.S.

Bergen County has its "Blue Laws." This means that almost all retail sales are prohibited to operate on Sunday with the exception of gas and food. Bergen is one of the few counties in the U.S. that still have "Blue Laws." Bergen County is bordered by New York to the north and the Hudson River is on the east side of the county. Passage can be made over the Hudson via The George Washington Bridge, which runs from Fort Lee in Bergen County to the Upper Manhattan section of New York City. The George Washington Bridge is the busiest motor vehicle bridge in the world. The expansive road network in Bergen County also includes the northern terminal of the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. Bergen County is a diverse, bustling area with many historical and cultural areas and events for you to enjoy.
