Travis County Information

Travis County is deep in the heart of the famous Hill Country of Texas. The Hill Country is famous for its barbeque, architecture, and unique culture. Austin, the capital of the "Lone Star State," as Texas is known, is located in Travis County. Austin is considered the Live Music Capital of the World because there are more live music venues per capita in Austin than anywhere else in the United States. But good food, good music, and good times don't end at the Austin City line. Travis County's 300 days of balmy sunshine mean that visitors can enjoy great outdoor activities like hiking, biking, running, open air boutique shopping, and golf. Austin and the greater Travis County area are known for many things: as a superior golf destination, for their public and private courses, golf resorts and spas, and other getaway retreats.

What makes Travis County, Texas unique is that it prides itself on being different. The City of Austin proudly calls itself "weird." This might be because it is home to one of the United States' largest universities, The University of Texas at Austin, or that many visitors and alumni from all over the world decide to live and stay in Travis County. Pace Bend Park Trail and other parks offer outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, white water rafting, camping, and horseback riding that make Travis County a popular destination. Travis County wouldn't be in Texas if it didn't offer rodeo and other Western events. If you want to experience everything Texas has to offer and more, Travis County is the place to start.
